2019

It's a new year and time for some changes. I've been sort of stuck since I left the zoo 3 years ago. It took a long time to mourn the loss of my career. I had 7 weeks of paid time off and then went immediately back to the veterinary hospital working as a vet assistant. It's the kind of job where I take nothing home with me and barely think about when I'm not at work. That was amazing and therapeutic for a while, but after several months it just became boring. After a while I got so bored I dropped my hours to part time. The job means next to nothing to me and I need a different job that will actually challenge and fulfill me.

Meanwhile, I did get to spend lots of time with the kids. Kaylin refuses to drive and was in several clubs that required rides home most nights of the week. Logan was very into baseball and I got to easily pick him up from practices and attend all the games. Now Kaylin is in college and Logan is driving. They don't need my time as much.

I had knee replacement surgery and started menu planning and cooking. I've organized and decluttered and figured out how to keep up with everything. It's been a good, relaxing experience but I need more. I had my first job interview and it went well. I don't have much experience in the field so probably won't get the job but the interview was a good experience. I'll keep looking at the job websites and applying for things that catch my eye. It's also time to eat better and exercise more. Change is good!
